1943 Penny Copper Plated Steel Experimental Coin

Back then I just threw it to the side because I figured it wasn't legit. Then I came across a website that said there were copper plates steel experimental coins struck?! The weight it said was 2.8 grams. So I pulled this out of the 2x2 and well it is 2.8 grams. How do I know if legit? Report this Post to the Staff

As coop stated, it's counterfeit, and a rather poor one at that. If you'd still want to send it in "for fun" go for it. It'd be a great learning experience for you. Report this Post to the Staff

I think someone copper plated a rusty steel cent. There are truly 10's of thousands of copper plated steel cents out there. Some are well done, some aren't. Sometimes they used new or nearly new steel cents, sometimes they used rusty ones. If they used rusty ones, sometimes they cleaned the rust off, sometimes they didn't. Report this Post to the Staff
