This 1878P 7/8TF has really strong doubling on the LIBERTY but I'm having a hard time seeing the doubling on the date. Looking at the various VAM's for the 1878-P, it appears to be a VAM38.

Can anyone confirm this for me or point me to the right VAM number?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Yes VAM-38, note the two "dots" under the olive branch and doubled R in Pluribus just to name a few pickup points.
