I posted these in the ebay, ecrater ect section of the forum but I just wanted to make sure my fellow Canadians knew about these.. Most of the "Rare" coins this seller is selling are not even close to real or genuine, not to mention he/she expects buyers to cough up 100's of dollars (in US currency) to trust his extremely blurry photos. The following photos are just some of the super rare errors he/she is selling.... I think they should stick to selling the comic books and leave the coins alone IMO. Im really not one to judge but even if this seller has no clue about coins, one would think you would atleast take decent photos and do your research first before demanding that kind of premium for un-slabbed/un-varified coins. Now you see where minor die wears and such being talked about here will mislead novice collectors into buying minor varieties that are never worth a buck or two. Recently Colonial Acres has had a couple sales of dealers old stock of minor doubling and such, sold for about 30 bucks a page or no bids, in this case the seller is trying to take advantage of a newbie. A really great lawyer taught me never allow the other side to keep repeating a fact even if it's partly true, if you repeat it enough times, it will seem correct

What are the links or auction/item number? I can't see anything from the attachments from the post.

I've been looking on ebay since the flood. It is full of sellers who must buy buckets of coins and then micro-loupe every one. Most minor varieties are worth no premium but those who love this stuff might just consider the exercise an amazing holiday.

There are literally tens of thousands of misleading, misinformed, and downright dishonest sellers on ebay. You could spend 24/7 trying to out them all. Suffice to say the first lesson of numismatics is CAVEAT EMPTOR Always has been, always will.

DBM, I agree, I've spent the last couple of months searching ebay and came across some pretty questionable coins but recently a lot of Canadian coins have been popping up for crazy prices and it seems to be coming from this seller, so I just thought I would bring it to everyones attention for those who have not seem the ads.

Although I really have very little to do with "errors", I really don't see anything out of the ordinary with his stuff. Anything magfied XX times will show the normal tolerance of any machine, regardless what it spits out. I see no real added value for some descriptional embellishments meant to snag the newbies.

Most of my ebay searches use the string "-RARE" in them... and I try to avoid using that word in my own listings, except for a couple of postage stamp issues... but since those are stamps (and I am only selling them for a friend), that does not count!! Even when it comes to steak, that word needs the prefix 'blue-' to use it properly!!
