I received this from the US Mint, it's the first coin I ever ordered from them along with a Gold Buffalo $50 coin. I read that sometimes red spots will show up when the tiny bit of copper is exposed to air?
From an older thread: "Some of the red spots on high purity (999) modern gold coins have been found to be silver sulfide (Ag2S). It has been suggested that these defects might come from airborne silver aerosols in the room where the coins are struck, rather than from the bulk of the metal since the purity is so high." There's a link to the publication with that quote over there: http://goccf.com/t/343419
I've seen spots like this on gold pandas with some frequency, and that other thread leads with a coin like yours. If I were you, I'd return it and try again.
