Nice set. Congratulations. I started mine several years ago and still haven't filled all the holes.

Excellent and Congratulations! Not sure how I feel about being your inspiration only to have you finish before me! I still have one hole left! (I kid, of course!) Well done!

Thank you everyone! Quote: Not sure how I feel about being your inspiration only to have you finish before me! Yep, it's all your fault! ... I still want to make some upgrades... My really good Flying Eagle cents are in my Indian Head Album... I need to upgrade that one... I upgraded the Barber (actually this week) and the Standing Liberty Type 1 quarters this year. Both BU

JBuck... A while back when I picked up the Liberty Seated no-motto Dollar, you mentioned at that time you still needed the motto one. You will be done soon I am sure... You have a really nice set too.
The last 2 holes/coins I bought to complete the set are the first 2 large cents pieces... I had a heck of a time finding ones reasonably priced that didn't have any environmental damage... The 1850 Coronet Large cent was actually given to me by my grandfather who passed in 1973, so the album has some history/memories to me now...

You have a really nice set too. Yup, the motto dollar is all I need. I just bought the no motto dollar at a coin show in February. It was a lucky find and a fair deal I could not pass. The way things are going it may be next year before I can attend another show. In the meatime I have been searching the Bay. Maybe luck will find me again. Darn, you must be really rich, and/or more than a bit lucky. Still hadn't found any Seated or older silver (at an affordable price, at least) for my 7070, nor any Half Cents or Three Cents of either type. Dunno what I'm going to do with commemorative halves. I have just over 40% of the holes filled so far (31 of 76), with maybe half a dozen others waiting until I find the respective coins in the mess that is my apartment (and a few of the more modern ones waiting until I choose the specific coin I want to put in that hole), but most of the remainder will probably be empty for a while yet.

After I counted I had about 35 (I thought it was more like 20 until I counted them) of the coins before I started it 3 years ago... I've been collecting off and on since I was about 10 years old, which was 55 years ago... A lot of my normal collecting has been thin the last 3 years, because I tried to buy one coin a month for the album... My other albums, like my Indian Head and Mercury dimes haven't been touched much... It was an expensive journey... Glad my wife and I have separate bank accounts... LOL

If you're looking for circulated examples on a budget they're not too hard to find. I don't have any extra, but shoot me a PM and I can help you find suitable examples.

Well, it's less that my budget is tiny (it is, but not that tiny; I don't have any problem spending as much as $10-15 for a coin, and I've been known to spend as much as $30 if the coin was obviously worth it), and more that I'm in Russia and lower-grade examples of older US coins don't seem to show up here very often. (High-end slabs, on the other hand, are all over the place; for a while the only 3 cent I've seen anywhere was a slabbed one for $75, and I seriously considered getting that one even thought the price was far above what I was comfortable paying.) In retrospect, I'm probably looking in the wrong places, but have no idea what the right places are. There's a guy in Barnaul who's selling many kinds of low-grade US coins on Meshok (or was a few months ago, at least); I would've bought something from him long ago if I wasn't afraid of payment problems.
