I found this in a mixed roll, from a box of U.S Pennies. I believe this is some type of struck through error. I don't think it's damage because you can see the ridges and the shape of whatever object was struck through it.

Hm...interesting. Not sure if it's PMD or a struck through of some kind like you think. This is not my area of expertise.

I'll let the others decide.

I am thinking it's a struck through error, because a coin scratch cannot replicate this.

Looks to be struck through a fairly large rim burr.

Well you guys are more knowledgeable than I am about these things, but I'm bothered by how this arc seems to continue on through to the back of Abe's head. I suppose that could be from a random impact and unrelated to the main arc above LIBERTY, but it seems more likely to me that the rim of another cent was pressed into this one (like @tun proposed above) and it indented the surface of this coin in two spots.

I agree with spence, the depression on the back of the head would be much more consistent with PMD.

Looks like the south part of the area is a wave which would be PSD. With all the other distractions on that area, it confirms it even more.

I am sorry, but I respectfully disagree. Not damage. It was struck through a rim burr. Take a look again and notice the shaved off copper plating. Damage cannot replicate that.

If you follow the arc down past Liberty a couple of millimeters you will see where the rim is struck. I think this along with the contact to the back of the head is why you see contact in the field that isn't continous. Ie it jumped over Liberty because it was propped up by the rim. Again behind Abe's head.
