@sheldius, I like the rim weakness above WE--looks like a legit clip to me. Nice find!

To be honest, the clip looks to ragged to me. Most clips are pretty clean cut, or at least the one's I've seen. I could be very wrong about this one, and I apologise if I am. coop?

The raggedness could be do to being circulated. John1

Thanks John1, Merclover, Coinfrog, and Spence. I appreciate your thoughts. Merclover, it is definitely circulated, but I take your point on the ragged end. Its possible that its PMD. The bumps there don't look organized like a tool to me. And there is very little metal bending or displacement. I'm leaning towards. Spence, educate me why the WE area would be important? Other end of the clipping object?

"Blakesley Effect" - thanks I have seen that talked about in other clipping examples but had never looked it up (didn't bother since I hadn't found anything close). Thought it had something how the metal flowed at the edge of the cut. So many things to think about -

I find it a bit suspicious looking. I'm on the fence.

Wait to see what Coop says. I would go with whatever his pronouncement is.

Coop, did you have any thoughts on if this is clipped?

I agree with Spence, looks legit, if you look on the Reverse above the "I" in "PLURIBUS" you can see what some call "Dove Tailing".
It was minted in 1944 and clearly been well circulated so I'm not overly surprised by the shape it is in, you can still see the characteristics of a legitimate clip IMO.

It's a legitimate clip. It's not fake. It's just well worn, that's all. Great find!

I agree it's a legitimate clip. The Blakesly effect and the tapered edge to the rim at the clip are there. Congrats.
