wondering what people here think. I'm not very good at grading, but I would tentatively estimate maybe an MS-62 or 63 if I'm lucky? Looking at PCGS price guides, that would put this coin around the $150 threshold I've seen quoted as when a coin becomes worth grading. What do people here think?

I'd be at 62 on it.

Nice coin other than the scattered carbon spots.

There is a lot of chatter, I think you could get better to slab if I'm honest (not to rain on your parade) it's a nice coin but I think it only makes MS60.

EDIT: Had another look and it might make MS62.

Solid 62+, seen worse in 63 holders.

Technically MS-62 but I think the luster might get it to MS-63 in a holder. It's $100 wholesale at 62 and $200 at 63 so probably worth sending in.

Thanks for the input, guys! I'm actually really excited that my estimate of "62, maybe 63 if I'm lucky" seems to be about the consensus. I half expected to post and get a bunch of "nah, maybe AU 58 at best"-s lol. Been trying to work on my grading skills, so happy I wasn't way off the mark here.

Definitely MS. Don't think it would be more than MS62.

A little banged up but still a tough coin in MS. MS-62.

Do people think it's worth sending off? Or is the TPG unlikely to add any value on this one?

I don't think spending more money on grading makes sense on this coin.

Lots of holes in whatever flip it was stored in. Have you thought about getting it conserved by one of the tpgs? It would probably come back with better eye appeal. But not sure it would add enough value to be worth it.
