@JC, your coins are fine enough, these are really only collectible when the letters start to fall off the edge such as the cent posted by @wn83.

Probably the Kennedy hall dollar spent a lot of time in a drawer without protection. Thus the poor condition of the coin. A collector prevents this from happening. But how often do you get these in circulation? That is probably these examples that end up there for years. Often spent when the keeper has passed away or stolen. Just a spender.
