Can you tell us what you're asking about? Just looks like a badly worn and banged up coin to me.

That coin is super suspicious. The shield and the eagle leg look like someone hand carved them and poorly. Not to mention the missing part of the motto and the excess material around the eagles legs.

What does it weigh?

I believe this might be an error coin that someone in the distant past tried to fix.

There may be a slight possibility of that, but I'm leaning towards it being a counterfeit.

Hopefully someone who is more familiar with this series will chime in.

It is a real Seated half dollar but is badly damaged and has been re-engraved on the reverse around the shield and feathers. This is usually done when it was jewelry and something that was attached was then removed. It looks to be a WB-21 die marriage.

Heymikep understands what he is looking at. An ex-jewelry piece that has had a soldered on mounting removed.

Maybe not funny, but the homemade shield carving made me smile for some reason.

You can check out the different die marriages from here, http://lsccweb.org/BillBugertBooks/...ertBooks.php
The date placement and the mint mark placement, even with the slightest difference, can usually identify the die marriage. Sometimes you do need a little bit more info and the site above can help.

The missing part of the motto can be from excessive die polishing, much like the no drapery found on just about every date of the Seated Liberty half dollars. You can go and look on ebay and see many 1875 S Half Dollars where part of the motto is missing in all grades.
