Why is my Halfgroat much smaller than in the book?
I know it has something missing around the edges but it is the size of the threefarthings coin which is comparatively much smaller. Is it due to the coin being bent?!...

Bent or clipped who knows. As far as I know all three farthings were dated, the groat half groat and sixpence were not except a very few extremely rare ones.

nohope587- I actually have a 1568 and a 1583 sixpence. These were not amongst the rare, dated ones were they? Or are you referring to coins of earlier decades of Elizabeth's reign?

OOps I should look at what I type. The sixpences were dated the undated ones are the rare ones
the rose behind the head helps to differentiate between the Groat and sixpence as they were similar coins...
Common groats and half Groats are not dated....

Yes the lack of a Rose was also getting to me a bit...

By the way it is a Penny 1560-61, someone got it on CoinPeople
(I could not work it out due to a lack of any photos of QEI Pennies in Spink 2005)
