Although the crucifix appears very old and is a cool looking item, I don't think this is the right forum for it. Perhaps, an antiques' or religious forum would be the place to solicit knowledge and comments on it?

The big problem is to find a forum that will reply and comment about these items.

For many years, probably 30% of my annual sales are religious medals and artifacts of all faiths and denominations.Being an atheist, with no background in any formal religion, and therefore no preconceptions, I've had to learn on the job, as it were.
25-30 years of research and experience make me believe that this does not have its origin in a Roman Catholic community. The flare by the side of Christ's hips is more commonly seen on Orthodox crosses, possibly as a development of the Russian Cross with its slanted lower cross member. This is also echoed by the botonee ends to the three upper members.
The complication is that this is a crucifix rather than a cross, coupled with that odd reverse. Lack of definition makes it hard to be sure, but that could be a ministering figure of the Virgin Mary, with the flared bottom shape being her gown.
If this is the case then I'd confidently place this piece as being Balkan from around 1850-1910.

If the reverse of your crucifix looks like your second image I'd revise my thoughts to Armenian Catholic Church and possibly 50-100 years older than I thought. Mekhitarist monks of the Armenian church were tolerated in the Austrian Empire.

You'd have to do a museum search to be certain, but I will try to find a match in the time I have in the next few weeks.
