I purchased this coin a few months back raw figuring it looked like a great ms63 candidate from the pictures provided. It's nice in hand. I previously thought those were contact marks on the cheek. Now I'm not so sure after looking through the scope. The other areas of concern are both the obverse and reverse rims. They taper out towards the reeding on the whole coin. The reeding looks normal on the edge.
Does this look like a small struck through error and what's up with the rim? Thanks.

First ...you cannot grade using a microscope
Second ... it indeed looks like a solid MS 63
Based on what is being graded these days .
Nice coin

I wasn't trying to grade using a scope. That would be pointless. It was used for the area on the cheek I thought might have been struck through. Any ideas on the rim of the coin?

The rim looks normal to me. The Face looks like scratches, IMO.
