1883 Shield Nickel Possible Variety

Oddly_Creative New Member United States 5 Posts	Posted 06/19/2020 4:42 pm I recently acquired a 1883 Shield nickel, and the seller said he thought there was a variety with the date on it. What do you guys think? (I think that there is no variety.) Report this Post to the Staff

Finn70 Valued Member United States 247 Posts	Posted 06/21/2020 9:26 pm Pictures are much better! I use only my phone camera for posting my coin pics, so mine aren't the best either. Many of the coin community members have more advanced equipment and have great photography skills. I don't see a comparable repunched date FS listing for your 1883 Shield nickel. Definitely not the 83/2 overdate. As far as a grade. XF45 possibly AU50. Solid strike on the reverse! Hopefully a Shield nickel enthusiast will have another opinion for you.
