I recently bought some silver proofs in the State Quarter series. The dealer sent me a mint sealed set of the 2000 issues. I need to remove the coins to house in my album? How, exactly? Is there some method with a hammer I seem to recall? It's been years since I had this issue.

Wrap the plastic case around some cloth, and tap at the edges until it crack, and I would used a flat head screw driver to pry it open.

I've used these on slabs and set to clip the edges.

I don't think those sets are sealed at all. Just need to find the seam and pry it open. Razor blade works good. Be careful

If these are US Mint proof sets they should open up rather easily.
Just find the seam and run your fingernail or a utility knife along it.
Later proof sets are easier as they are not sealed at all, the earlier ones will need the utility knife to open the seam.
(I should have refreshed before submitting. Keith got it first!)

Just set the slab on a bar-b-que grill that is hot and the plastic will just melt away. Actually not a good idea at all.

Look on you tube, if you twist it opposite ways it will pop open very easy. Better than plier because I tried both before my wife found the video.
