I found this coin in an old box of my mother's jewelry. It was wrapped up and probably has not seen the light of day for decades. I took some close up images of the coin to sell it and I noticed the I in United was missing. Does this add or detract from the value. Unfortunately it's been drilled for use as a necklace.

Unfortunately, the hole renders the coin to be worth only gold melt value.

You could get it repaired but the added cost of the repair would probably not be recovered when you sell it. It will always be a details coin due to the hole or the repair.

Thanks for sharing this. Only worth bullion as noted, maybe best as a keepsake.
