Hello my Uncle gave my son this error penny years ago and I forgot about it until I found it buried in a drawer- can anyone tell me if this is rare? worth anything or just something to keep in a drawer as an oddity?

It is an off center coin. But not up on prices for these. If you had put this into a 2X2 years ago, the value would have been more than it is now. But you might try looking on ebay to see what they are selling for. Click on watch on them and get about 10 to figure out an average for them. That might give you a better idea for value. But a real keeper.

John1 hit it right on it's head by his sold example. They are neat and unusual, but generally not all that valuable.

to the CFF!

It certainly is a strange hobby where the tiniest marks seen under magnification can mean big bucks as a double die or VAM die variety, but a huge error/offset like this is a $10 coin.

Does anyone not notice the apparent die rotation as well? This is one good example of both an off-center strike and a rotated die.

EDIT: I just realized that it isn't die rotation. Just an off-center strike. The OP must have flipped the coin on its side, not vertically.
