Good Morning,

I am new to collecting Canadian coins and was wondering what coins there are to collect for the "2020 Season". I know in years past there were special quarters and 2 dollar coins, are there going to be this year?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Brett

Are you just interested in circulating coins or RCM collector coins? As far as I know, there are no special circulating coins released for this year yet. I think there was supposed to be, but with COVID who knows.

I would suggest getting a copy of the Charlton Standard Catalogue. Volume 1 is for circulating coins and Volume 2 is for RCM collector coins. Then collect what interests you.

I suggest going to the RCM site and look around. https://www.mint_ca/store/template/...gclsrc=aw.ds

For obvious reasons the RCM is missing 4 months of production, since the RCM can't make a profit on Canada"s circulation coins, they probably be fulfilling their foreign orders and NCLT. Try contacting the RCM but good luck on getting info from them.

When you see a coin that you cannot take your eyes off and find yourself mesmerized by it, that's the coin to buy

You will find the $2 Bill Reid commemorative has been released, again with 1 Million plain version and 2 Million colourized version Struck. They are officially circulating coins. If you are lucky, you may find them at some banks, and even in circulation. They cannot be ordered by the banks- they are lucky when they get the commemoratives shipped to them. There will be, I believe, one more $2 commemorative, and a $1 commemorative released this year. If you are wanting the collector sets shown above, visit mint_ca and check the "New Releases". I saw the design and thought "This is stunning." I have seen them in my hands, and I still feel this way. Mind you, I did get to meet Bill Reid in person, and really admire what he did, his creativity, his care about other people, and how he helped several generations of artists. You can also get the collector set for last years' $2 commemorative there. Best of luck if you try to get them at banks or in circulation- I have been to 5 banks and have hit it lucky at two of them. I got a number last year in circulation.
