I received a letter from PCS Coins & Stamps telling me about how to get the 50 State Quarter collection in uncirculated condition. I send in the form requesting more info about it. I am not a coin collector per say but my father is. I haven't even sent any money yet and I received the first panel today for Delaware with a invoice for $17.95. First off I was under the impression that the price was for the entire collection because that is what the brochure said. Secondly, the quarters in the panel are not in uncirculated condition. I may not know much about coin collecting but I know enough to know what an uncirculated coin looks like as my father has quite a few collections starting back from the late 70's. These quarters have nicks, scratches and do not have that polished brand new fresh out of the mint look. I am so disappointed because I would like to get what I was going to pay for. I called PCS and they said I was mistakened, they asked if I was a collector and when I said no they retorted that how could I know whether it was uncirculated or not. Easy........I grew up watching, learning and being taught the ins and outs of coin collecting, I just didn't take an avid interest. I will be sending back this panel tomorrow. Has anyone ever had this happen to you when they try to pass off something like this? They must be idiots to think a collector wouldn't know what they are getting! I'm sorry for your bad experience. If you think a coin is circulated it probably is, even if you have hardly any coin collecting experience. My 5 year old son even knows what an uncirculated coin is ("the shiny ones"). It sounds to me like you need to run away FAST from that company. Do not send them any money and try to get them to take back the coin without you paying for shipping. Maybe you can buy your uncirculated 50 coin quarter set on ebay for a whole lot less, too.

Ive been using just one guy for all my quarter needs on ebay , hes been outstanding and cheap considering its the 90% silver ones. They sell all kinds of US coins , ive had about 20 so far and no complaints , blinded by the brilliance of them.

ebay is a good way to go for the State Quarters. Most sellers have return policies stated. Hopefully you can return the coin. Was it just Delaware that cost $17.95 or the whole 1999 set of coins?

The sets came in 5's , presumably its 17.50 per 5 x that by 10 and its ummm a heck of a lot more than you'll pay anywhere else. Sets of 5 with authenticity in 90% silver go for around $20 any time I look at them.

The $17.95 was for one panel with the Delaware P & D mints, demographic information, plus 2 stamps (stamps are pretty cool, but thats about it)

Have you decided what to do or are you obligated to keep it? Will there be another 9 panels ?

Surely its not $17.95 for one quarter from each mint and a couple of stamps ? Ive only ever seen the panels in sets of 5 states for each year of issue.

I assure you it is that price for one panel $15.95 + $2 S/H. Each panel contains 2 quarters P & D mints, 2 stamps and demographic information on the state. I am supposed to receive one panel monthly. There is an album that each panel goes into. Doing the math it all adds up to around $800 for the complete set, I have seen them for so much less that are actually in unciculated condition. I am not obligated to buy because they are not selling what they said they were, anyone can get a circulated State Quarter.

If I understand your initial post correctly, you sent in a form requesting more info and they send you the product and an invoice? That tells me they sent you an item you did not order and if I am correct in this that means you can keep the product and toss the invoice. My understanding is that you are under no obligation to pay for something you did not order nor are you obligated to send it back.

Wow..im staggered truely stunned.I paid less for 2 silver cameo graded ngc quarters. The silver proofs uncirculated are going for 3-5 bucks until you hit earlier series 1999 commands a nice price.
