
This is a die chip. These are common to find on coins. These eventually get larger, when more of the die breaks away. Note the shape of your die chip? A void opened up after that areas part of the die broke off the die. This will continue to be struck on coins until the die is retired. Note the line on the left side of the coin. This is called
Ridge Ring. This is showing me that this is a sign of die age. The die is breaking down. But many more cents with be struck with this die before it is retired. So while there is no premium for this, the value is now you know what it is, what it is a sign of and the future of the die.
