1997 10 Cents Near And Far Beads

I have never personally heard of a variety as such, but from what I see the coin on the left looks to be fairly circulated compared to the one on the right, the rim also looks a lot flatter than the one on the right and makes me think circulation flattening of the rim.

However if you can take a photo of both coins side by side but of the rims showing the thickness we may be able to tell you more on what happened.

I agree okiecoiner. It must be a collar or strike error. The near beads error is quite plenty by my count. I went through a roll of 1997's and found 39 with the near beads and 11 with the far beads. All coins have 120 beads. I find it interesting that there was nothing in between as far as rim spread but my sample is quite small. It looks like the good rim is the lower mintage coin. I don't think circulation is a factor here because they all have the same rim spread regardless of wear.
