Sure thing.... that was a total guess I know nothing of die cracks. I take it not going through the rim labels it a scratch. And how does it not go through the devices if it was a scratch? Just curious thanks.  |

I'm in the scratch camp as well, figuring that whatever cut it just jumped the high points live the V and the rims.

A crack would be raised. A portion of your's is, however it looks like displaced metal from
the cut/scratch.

If does go through at least some of the devices. It clips the edge of the O in OF, through the upper part of the wreath, the left serif of the right arm of the V, and the lower part of the wreath right of the bow. The only place it doesn't show through the devices is the right arm of the V.
It's possible whatever scratched it hit the serif of the V, jumped and came back down below the arm of the V or just lightly scratched the arm which was then worn down in circulation.

Or the scratch on/over the V was worn off during circulation
