HI.im very new to collecting and have several 2014 canadian open dimes. I purchased them quite some time ago. Never circulated still in the capsul. It it worth getting these graded or just sell as is. Ill try to get a pic on here.

certainly not worth getting graded. there is little upside if you are just planning to sell them.. be sure to check ebay for sold prices.. Not what people are asking for them..

I'm guessing you are referring to the 2004 Canadian Open silver 10-cent coin vs. 2014 as there was no such issue in 2014.

In 2004, the coins were only issued in special collector sets: one was a framed set with the dime plus a silver $5 coin, a pewter medal, a pair of circular stamps and a pair of golf tees; the other was a coin and stamp set in a colourful cardboard folder that included a divot repair tool and two stamps in addition to the dime.

The coin sets are not very popular at the moment - one or more of the sets seems always to be available. As a result, they do not command strong prices in the marketplace. If your coins have been removed and separated from one of these sets, you might experience even more buyer resistance as many collectors seeking the coins are also looking for the original packaging.

As silverwolf noted, they are not worth the cost of grading.

I'm sorry I meant 2004 Canadian open dime. They have not been pulled from the set and I know they are low mintage. I bought them in 2004. 50 of them in capsules not taken out ever.

Good to hear that the coins are still in their original packaging.

Per the RCM's Annual Reports for 2004 and 2005, the framed set had total sales of 18,750; the folder set with the divot tool had sales of 20,508.

Unfortunately, in today's non-circulating legal tender (NCLT) market, these are not low mintage figures. Each of the sets can be purchased today for around its issue price or even less if you wait patiently for a good deal. But don't just take my word for it - or the word of others - do as silverwolf suggested and check "Sold" prices on ebay to see for yourself the current market value. I am confident that you will not see much, if any, value appreciation vs. issue price.

Regardless, I wish you the best of luck if you decide to sell!
