Hi There,

I just started out collecting coins, so I thought it would be nice to join this community.

Some years ago I received some coins as a gift. Although most of them I can ID - I am at a loss with one specific coin. My guess would be that it's a medieval mughal coin, but I can't find any coin that looks quite like it.

Maybe there's someone here that can help out?

@ocra, first welcome to CCF. Second, a good place to begin comparing your coin to Mughals is this prior thread by one of our experts in Indian numismatics.

Welcome to Numista!

Your coin is an Indian silver rupee of Datia state

KM C#38, Orchha mint, a copy of Orchha State KM C#32. Similar coins were made for over 100 years and the dates given bear little relationship to reality. Yours seems to carry a regnal year of 33, with the second 3 retrograde. A coin of AH 1250/RY33 is listed in Krause.

Wow thanks, that is just amazing - you wouldn't imagine how long I searched for the origins of this coin. My lack of knowledge about coin databases wasn't helping either. Anyways a big thanks to you!
