Hello, I am new to collecting and found a weird mark right behind the head on the obverse of a 1967 Kennedy half dollar. I am just wondering if this is some kind of error, and if it is what it would be called. Thanks

Looks like it was struck by the reeded edge from another coin.
Not an error.

It is not indented in the coin, it is raising out of the coin.Does that make any difference?

But it is fixed on that area? It may have broken off another coin. I can see the area it hit on the bust. So this maybe raised, but could be attached to the coin with by contact or with glue? But it is impossible to be raised on the coin as the die is flat on that area. If there were an issue with a die creating this there were be many examples found. But I feel it is something on the coin.

Thanks for the help and replies! I put it back under the microscope and rotated it around to look at it from different angles and I can see where it looks gouged like it pushed up the metal there. Thanks again for the input. From now on I will make sure to check from a 360 degree view.

I have the same kind of problems looking at what I though was errors in coins collecting in the beginning, if you're lucky to have coin shows with dealers having error inventory, that would help to evaluate what error coins are.

Well pushed up, is just damage to the coin from the reeds of another coin.
