I came across this coin today doesn't seem like typical damage the coin is about half the width of a normal nickel let me know what you think

It is a split planchet issue post strike. This would be even better if you had both pieces. But still a great find. This is a mint error, not PSD.

I agree that it's a post strike planchet split. A weight would definitely confirm though.

Amazing find! It's a split planchet error as Coop mentioned above. These errors are very scarce.

Normal is 5g. So the other 2/5ths is still out there or never left the mint. Thanks for the weight.
