Poll Question
To all collectors. (I say collectors, because this is not aimed at the dealers amongst us, in other words, take off your "But what about the resale value?" hats for a while.
I would like to know which of the two pictured coins you would prefer to have in your collections, and be able to look at for the next 50 years?
I would also be interested in the reasons for your preference.
(I am not sure how to upload a picture to a poll so the pics are in the next post.)
"A" is the coin before dipping "B" is the same coin after dipping.
Also note neither picture has been edited for brightness, contrast etc.

I have a high grade seated lib. quarter that was dipped. I get heartburn every time I look at it. I have to vote A. I guess I just prefer a more "natural" patina. Besides, it sticks out from the collection like a sore thumb.

Quote: I get heartburn every time I look at it. Is that what made you the acidic one? Seriously, I voted for the natural one as well.

Natural is always better, IMHO.

Very interesting results so far. I will reveal some further research once the results stop coming in.
Anyone outside of the US care to vote?

A, because the patina gives the coin character.

(Coin A) Because after all the years of it acquiring all of the crud, toning and dirt, it still don't show much wear on the design and features.

Not one single vote for the dipped coin! EDIT: Okay, who slipped in the vote as I was posting?

I'm not surprised, but it's very revealing. As is your choice of smilie jbuck! As if to say "whoever dares to vote for a cleaned coin wants a fight"

Quote: I'm not surprised, but it's very revealing. Maybe it was a sympathy vote? Quote: As if to say "whoever dares to vote for a cleaned coin wants a fight" Actually, it was because someone made me a liar, but that is a good reason as well!

I voted au' natur'el.....(err.... however you spell that).....and I voted that way almost BEFORE even looking at your coins........just the mere "idea" of a dipped/cleaned coin is a dastardly horrific calamity of a thing to do.
I noticed that the person who voted "for" a dipped coin did not leave a reply !....I was a little curious to read that ! Though I know that some people don't mind them........and I know that many "sellers" don't mind doing the dipping or cleaning to "increase" their profits on those who can't identify a cleaned/dipped coin.....in essence...misleading them.

Without a doubt A. Dipping it really accentuates the scratch from 2 o'clock toward 11 o'clock.
Just out of curiosity, why did you do it? Was there PVC goo?
