I dumped $200 at a bank called community state bank, and they gave me an extra $10 ($5 for each $100 dumped), so I got $210 altogether! They told us that the fed is not selling them any coin at all, so they have been paying customers for their coins instead. This was their last day doing that, as I guess their vaults are probably getting full right now; a bank teller told us that someone dumped $9,000 in coins at one of their branches, and they payed them a bunch of cash for those coins. I suspect that they will reopen this deal in the future, once their vaults run empty again.

That sounds like a good deal, especially if you can get more coin for face value.

If the bank paid you for returning bulk coins, the implication is that the bank must be short on coins, and has a great requirement for them.
It also implies that they would be unwilling to give out large bulk amounts of of coins, so that they can retain a reasonable supply for a larger number of customers.
That may be bad news for CRH'ers, because they need to supply the needs of those customers who require the coins in cash transactions, such as supermarkets.

Yeah I'm in ohio and the banks around me wont give out any coin rolls and the Walmart self checkout lines are not accepting cash because of a coin shortage so it must be getting pretty serious

Well, THAT bank is certainly smiling ! THEY can happily serve the CRH'ers as well as all of their commercial customers. Win-win for all.

That was a very smart thing that the bank did; a good way to get coins for their customers. I also got a lot of $1 bills from the bank in exchange for my searched coins that had been in my closet for years. I plan on searching the $1 bills for star notes and older bills.

My CU's coin counter has been shut down for months, but they said they will accept rolled coin. First time I've heard that in about ten years.

I went to the CU yesterday and was talking to the teller about it and she was like "we are only giving out one roll of anything fro the shortage"
So They have 2 branches within a half hour drive with coin machines in the lobbies so I said, "why don't you guys just hold those bags and roll them up and distribute them to your branches in need?"
She said "nope. they get sent with the armored carriers, NOBODY is gonna roll them up here and do that!"
So, they deal with the shortage as "it is what it is" and make it the customers problem really, and just waiting I gues for the fed and armored carriers to return to normal.
