It does not look like a 43 to me . Just a normal mangled copper Wheat cent .

to me I didnt think it was a 1943 the reverse doesn't look nearly as damaged as the obverse which is suspiciously damaged where the date is. depending on the angle you can either see the date or not

Even if its a 1943, who is going to risk buying it with that damage (and thus possible editing through the damage to make it look like a million dollar find)?

I'm thinking 1945. The tail of the last digit doesn't drop down like it would on a 3 or a 9. The tail of the 5 didn't drop down in 1945. (In the 50's the style of the 5's were changed and the tail went from one that curved up to one that pointed down.)
