I just started collecting US coins, and came across this one.
It has a clear ring stamped on the obverse, the number "1" is missing in "1950" and just to the right of the ring, there is a marking that looks a lot like one of the wheat stalks from the reverse of the coin. Furthermore, there is a small indentation (curved cut) in the left rim, under "Liberty".
Edit: included photo of the reverse - which also has a ring, but this is dotted, not solid.
Can anyone help me out, and tell me what this is, and if it has any significant value?
Coin wrapper damage. Need Coop to post his pictures though. The 1 might be a result of this damage and/or a very minor Greaser. A spender unless you're keeping wheaties IMO.
I would like to see the reverse. To me it looks like it was smacked with some copper tubing. If the one was already missing, the damage pretty much does the coin in. But there may have been a minor grease issue that altered the '1'? But just a damaged Wheat cent now.
