I've seen through out many of the forums where picture quality comes up, and it is suggested that USB microscopes are a budget yet quality solution. I've seen guys using high dollar Cannon setups with all the extra tweaking things come up, but I'm searching for a common man's set up Being on a budget, and having read ALOT of Amazon reviews, I was wondering from the coin aspect if there were any that someone could suggest. A lot of the reviews were for insect views and flower pedals and what not, and I know everyone has there preferences, like there are Ford guys and Chevy guys and neither the two shall pass LOL, SO I guess my question is to the regular users of USB microscopes, is there any consensus on which ones might be better suited for coins and a price range to usability, sort of an ROI (Return on Investment) on one of these units. If there is something posted already, I apologize in advance, I didn't see any thread dedicated to USB microscope recommendations in general. Thanks again for any input. Ton of info when you use the search box upper left of page. What is your budget? There is a $400 setup. As to USB scopes, the lower the power the better. 5x to 150x for an example. 5mp is better than 2mp. You will have a lighting issue. Practice slot. John1

I spent a lot of money for a Dino-Lite USB microscope camera and I've seen photos posted using a $40 USB camera that were just as good if not better.
Reviews are all over the place but in my opinion, like John1 stated, lighting makes all the difference.

I have gone thru a few usb microscopes mainly because they looked 2 fake, the picture that is after all that I have bought probably could have gotten a 5mp digital eyepiece with a mono-scope lol. Working on a new project for people that cant afford that 200 dollar microscope ill post when finished.

they are all about the same, and only good for closeups
if you want a quick way to take decent pictures of entire coins then NO to the micro

50x is the lowest it goes, and you need one that goes as close to 5x as possible. You will never need more than 150x for coins either, John1
