I inherited some coins and there is an interesting coin or charm that has a square opening in the middle. The front appears to have Chinese writing and the back has dragons. Can anyone tell me whether it is a coin or a good luck charm?

it is a modern charm or token. Likely the characters were copied from an actual coin.

The inscription is copied from a coin of the Kang Xi emperor. The charm will not be very old, mid-20th century at the earliest.

The "bubbly" appearance of the background is intended to imitate the grainy sand-cast surfaces of genuine coins. These charms, however, would have been mass-produced by machine-striking, rather than being cast by hand.
