My avatar is a gold 8 escudo 1826 FM, Popayan, Colombia mint used in the Philippines during the reign of Isabel II (Y.II.) Queen of Spain, countermarked in 1834 (pearls 5-3-1) for circulation as it was not legal for coins minted in the rebel colonies as it was Colombia during that time. They were scared the Filipinos will follow the path of independence like most of the south american colonies. The coin itself is scarce without the countermark. With the countermark is it extremely rare.

My avatar is a 10 Euro gold coin from France, commemorating the anniversary of Benjamin Franklin's 300th birthday. Issued in 2006, Benjamin Franklin is considered an important American who orchestrated early relations with France after the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Benjamin Franklin stayed in France during most of the Revolution and secured the support of the French. It was this support that helped the Americans defeat the British at Yorktown, Virginia. The maximin mintage for this commemorative is 1,000.

Canada has minted several different coin and stamp sets over the past years. My avatar is the 2004 silver commerative $5 Moose coin. They must have had low mintages or something because the set now sells for like....$85. Whereas I got a 2005 Walrus coin and stamp set from canada and it costed me about half as much.
I like the coin, I like moose, chose my avatar.

One nice thing about being old is you don't know a lot of what's going on. After many years of being on forums I only recently found out what an Avatar is. Still have no idea how to add one and not sure if I did I would. Just old age I guess.

Mine is the first American coin I pulled out of my box of inherited foreign and American coins I was so happy to receive and thought it was foreign also until I looked at it a little better. I have learned a lot since then. And now it is on my for sale thread also. I did some color adjustments to the picture to make it look that way on my avatar.

Wow...amazing story on the gold 8 Escudo! And I like that proof Jefferson...wonder if it's cherrypickable? My avatar is a corroded Norway Krone--worth $0.14, but it takes a nice pic.

I requested an LGF Washington quarter a few days ago. But they haven't gotten around to it yet. So I have a "stock photo" of a Morgan still.

Mine is an AV (gold) Aureus from the early fourth century of Licinius II, son of the Roman Emperor Licinius I.
Again, this is probably the one Roman coin I will never obtain; the only one I ever have seen is on display at the British Museum as one of their rarest coins!

My avatar is a 2000 Australian $5 commemorative. In 1999 the Royal Australian Mint and the Perth Mint collaborated on a series of Australian flora and fauna coins to commemorate the 2000 Olympics. This coin fit nicely into my fish-themed collection. The coins were so well designed that, in retrospect, I wish that I collected the whole set while it was inexpensive.

My avatar is a copy of the Confederate States of America one cent coin obverse. Can't afford even a re-strike of this coin. I liked the history associated with this one cent coin and found a copy (yes, the reverse is stamped).

2004 one of 11,750 Selectively Gold plated Specimen Australian one Dollar Kangaroo series. I normally don't like plated coins but I like the look of this coin - An Australian specimen coin is defined as a specially prepared coin which also has normal circulating coins issued with the same date and die types. Mine has a proof like finish
