I know, very common date, but IMO, they are MS. Picked them up for $9 a pop so I did not think it was a bad deal.

I think you're right. Good deal at $9 each - that's below AU for each. The strikes are both above average for the date.

I see them both as AU-55 coins, Both coins show wear on the obverse on the bun and hair details, with some rub on the reverse breast and wing edges.

Still a good buy for 9 bucks ea.

I'd say AU58. The wear is almost invisible and the strikes are very nice. What is the luster like on these?

The luster does not reach out to ya... just has a decent shine to them.

1921's are a scream to grade because of the huge variances in strike quality. The only comfortable way to grade one is in-hand, to look at the early-wear areas under magnification. I've scored a few MS 1921's which were advertised as AU. In the interest of honesty, I've had a few the other way, too.
