The D on this 1944 looks like there is an S under it.

compared to copper coins mint mark

I think I've matched the die marker crack shown on copper coins (the bottom lower bust picture from copper coins). There might be the hair die marker as well, but it is worn there, and might just be my eyes.

Let me know what you think.

Certainly looks like it! Amazing find! I've been trying to find one of these myself, which has proven very difficult. Again, very nice find!

Nice find!

A xylene soak and a tooth pick would remove the build up around the MM. It would be a bit more pronounced.

I would use 100% pure acetone. Where did you find it? Congrats.

Thanks all. I have been slowly working my way through a bag of 5000 wheat pennies. All my posted finds have been from this one bag.

I'm up to 1944's and about half the pennies have been looked at under the microscope.

It has been a few hundred coins since I found anything at all, so I was wondering if it was done.
