I have to scale them down to get them under the 300kb threshold. Otherwise it won't let me upload them.

They are from a private collector. I didn't pay anything because I wanted expert opinions first. He has 4 of the 1794 Flowing Hair Dollars that suspiciously all had the same damage so I had a pretty good idea they were fake. He has 7 draped bust dollars dates 1798 - 1804. And also a 1918 D Standing Liberty quarter, a 1901 Barber quarter, and a 1942 S Walking Liberty that all look like they have been cleaned.

run away Quote: He has 7 draped bust dollars dates 1798 - 1804 Have you checked the number of 1804 Draped Bust Dollars minted and prices? https://www.coincommunity.com/us_do...ped_bust.aspThey don't call it the "King of Coins" for nothing. Glad you came here first before buying!

Oh WOW! I had no idea! Only 15 proof strikes were struck in 1804! No circulation strikes! This is is a good example of why I come here. I thank all of you for your help. I have one more question about some coins I'll post in a different topic.

@bobby131313 When I tried to upload the original photos I got the error message that they were too big and I went to a website to resize them. Hence why they are nowhere near to big.

Here's the kind of shop that sells coins like the ones you've shown The fakes are mixed in with common date real coins to give the appearance of honest merchandise. In regards to the 1845, the patina is typical of fakes and the 5 in the date is very wrong. The best place to compare your images is PCGS Coin Facts. https://www.PCGS.com/coinfacts

These lower quality fakes are showing up everywhere. An estate auctioneer in my area has a bunch of them in one of his upcoming sales including draped bust dollars, CC Morgans, and classic head large cents. Trying to get him to take them to a local coin shop for authentication before he makes a fool of himself since he apparently thinks they area real.

@Jbuck. I used that first and had trouble getting the size of the image under 300kb. So I went to another site and got the results you see. It's weird because sometimes the pics I upload need no resizing and sometimes they do. I get mixed results when using CCF Image Optimizer so that's why I look elsewhere. I think I have figured out what to do on the other site that I go to. It feels like I am learning a hobby within a hobby lol.
