I would still like to see a link to the auction, so I can see how it was worded.

Give him a chance to refund your money. If he doesn't, leave him negative feedback and be done with it. That's where I am at with ebay.

I just sent this to the seller...
I must say I'm a little disappointed with your description of this coin. The pic shows original Gov. packaging and what I got was a coin graded by SGS. No COA!. That's not to say I'm not happy with the coin, just the way in which it was presented. Shame...Shame...Shame. For this, I have decided to give NO feedback. I'm not going to neg. you. But I don't think you should be rewarded for your misdeed. If you had two of these coins and I was sent the wrong one. More care should be taken with your mailings.

I'll let you know if he/she responds.

There's no point in communicating with a seller that no matter what s/he does, you're not going to leave feedback. That doesn't benefit any other potential ebay customer of this seller, and in its own small way, has the potential to harm the hobby for the next person who comes along. There's no way on ebay to search for "negative or neutral feedback that would have been left by a buyer who didn't receive what was expected and promised." Your reluctance to leave negative feedback makes me think that deep down you are quite happy with the coin, because your communication with the seller seems designed only to make a point. I'm not even sure what the point is, since it's not accompanied by a credible and quite reasonable threat of negative feedback. Just my thoughts, take it for what it's worth.

C'mon HABIB, I've said repeatedly through out this thread that I was happy with the coin. Its the only reason I'm not neg'ing the guy. By leaving no feedback I am kinda hurting him (in a passive kinda way). His percentage doesn't go up with this sale. Yes, I'll agree, my e-mail has no teeth...but it allowed my to tell the seller how I feel about his underhanded tactics. YOU know who the seller is now, along with anyone who cares to read this. So in that sense, I am again hurting him by maybe denying him a sale from someone here. As there are a lot of people who sell on e-bay on this board. You know how a negative can effect future sales in a BIG way. Please don't fault me for not wanting to hurt him THAT bad...a poke with a sharp stick is about as far as I'm willing to go for this kind of discrepancy. As far as letting everybody else know about evil-doings on e-bay, or as some here refer to as ebay or some other derivative I think everybody knows already. Its a dead horse. Reading all the responses (thank you all) has brought me to the conclusion that I shouldn't be upset with him...just disappointed. Thanks, A.

Yeah, I noticed that a sane buyer wouldn't deal with this guy anyway... He has terrible feedback. His percentage just masks it because of volume.

After viewing the listing and reading the sellers feedback, the seller is just playing a bait and switch game. Some buyers call the seller on it and most don't.
I would neg the seller without hesitation. It is obvious that you like the coin or you would not have bid on it. But that isn't a reason not to neg the seller.

a1, You are absolutely right. As someone who sells on ebay I know that negatives can affect future sales. That's why I don't have any negatives, and that's the exact reason why I think ethical ebay coin sellers would agree that your situation basically requires negative feedback--IF the seller does not offer to send you the packaging pictured in the listing at no cost to you. If I ever sent someone less than my picture led them to expect and didn't work to make it right, then I would expect the buyer to exercise his rights under the system. I myself would not hesitate to slap that seller with a negative. Even if the coin itself satisfied my own collecting requirements (hey I was going to take it out of the package, anyway), that's not the point of negative feedback. I'm sorry that you don't feel that a negative feedback is warranted here, but it does make me wonder when you think one might be. I've never heard of anyone checking to see whether a seller has received feedback from a certain percentage of his buyers. People can only use tools that exist on the website and as far as I know there's no way to analyze non-existent feedback. But you're the one who has to be happy here, so if you're not comfortable leaving negative feedback, I completely understand. I disagree, but I do understand.

I did leave a neg feedback once. I got 2 Morgans for a great price. Instead of sending them, He sent back HALF the money saying he did send them and I just wanted something for nothing. Three days later he reposted the exact same two coins...What a loser.
Your probably right HABIB. After seeing all those negative feedbacks, its obvious the guy is a fraud. I should be happy I got anything at all.

That's true--I mean at least you:
1. Got a coin you are happy with 2. Are able to put an SGS 'slab' in the trash
I hope I wasn't coming across as being harsh to you--it's more the situation that is frustrating because there really ought to be a better way to call sellers on their behavior.

Don't let them get away with it!
The SGA dollars are woth 100X more than an SGS, anyday. [well, maybe not 100x, but a heck of a lot more!]

I think the sad part is that because the seller has so many sales he/she feels that they can take stock photos from the net and say that is what you are getting to get. The fact that there are so many negative feed backs over the last year is a big flag as well and that you should feel lucky to have what they sent and that you were not like the others that complained.
