I agree it's a beauty and I would give it at least an MS-63. Luster is strong, the fields are unusually free of scuffs and hits and the cheek has only tiny chatter marks. There is a minor cut on the reverse rim at 3:00 o'clock and two tiny rim nicks at around 12:00 on the obverse.

I wouldn't be shocked to see this in an MS-64 holder some day. The quality is head and shoulders above an ordinary BU $20 Lib.

Obverse could go MS65 but the reverse would hold it to MS64. Really a beautiful Lib and better looking than any of mine!

Love the 19th Century gold pieces!

I'd give it an MS-62, because of the marks by Liberty's face on the front.

Thanks for the input. I bought this from a friend of mine who is building a new house and was selling off 32 $20 gold pieces for the foundation. He gave me first chance at them and I got this coin and $20 St. G . He took the rest to coin show and sold the rest of the book to a dealer for the same price per piece as he sold me choice. There where a couple of other AU pieces but most of the coins where in the XF range with rim nicks and other problems.
