Hey everyone, today the grade for the coin dropped in. It came out as UNC details, Environmental Damage. A little disappointing as I thought it had a good chance of straight grading, but there it is. Still an exciting find! Tons of thanks are due to GrapeCollects for helping me get this graded!! He helped me every step of the way with the submission, which I greatly appreciate!

Glad I could help! I still think it should have straight graded, though not as Unc. TPGs are oddly picky at time. I have some great examples.

That's still amazing, congrats!

Yeah I expected a straight grade in the AU range, but you never know! Seeing the higher quality pictures, the environmental designation hurts!

Two questions for you guys if you dont mind. First, how do you calculate value on a coin with this designation? Also, is environmental damage something that the Restoration Service could correct? It had to be a close call, and I would love to get astraight grade on this coin.

Quote: First, how do you calculate value on a coin with this designation No clue. But probably around 1.9-2.1k. Quote: Also, is environmental damage something that the Restoration Service could correct? Probably. Or some acetone and verdicare

Environmental damage or not, that coin deserves a slab! Amazing find and great job on the slab!

Great find. I think the rare factor trumps the details designation. Leave it as is. Check past sales for an idea on value. John1

Quote: how do you calculate value on a coin with this designation? Like John1 said, past sales are the best way. I see a couple past auctions for details-graded examples. This one sold for about $450: https://coins.ha.com/itm/lincoln-ce...ption-071515This next one sold for about $550. It's uncirculated like yours, but "details" for a different reason: https://coins.ha.com/itm/lincoln-ce...ption-071515I suspect it's worth at least $500. As a side note, I do agree with the environmental damage designation. The reverse has visible verdigris developing.

This error will surely bring a good premium, and I'm not worried about the grade on this coin. Also, do NOT clean it

I could see this easily attaining 1 - 2 k at auction despite the details grade. These are extremely fun to look for but very very hard to find.

TPGs can be strange. They gave this a ED grade, but others with more heavy toning have received a straight grade. It is what it is, but nevertheless, it looks fantastic and should fetch 1.5-2k

They gave you UNC Details witha 97 for environmental, but they also did give you the " Close AM FS-901" and that's what matters. You could always crack it out and send it to NGC, or ANACS next and see if they give it a AU straight grade instead. I think the money is there to make it worthwhile. The only spot I feel is really bad is that one on the reverse. can always call up PCGS and ask if conservation services were done could it then straight grade. I mean most of it is "color" issues and not "corrosion" to get it a 97 I think... I dunno. I think they are being overly harsh here when it could be AU straight grade and RB or BR. But maybe they see something in one of the spots that either needs to be addressed, or can't be addressed....

Maybe worth resubmitting - UNC details seems ridiculously nit-picky to me.
