@2k, interesting--how many of these are chop marks as opposed to being stray circulation marks?

I'm fairly confident all 4 I posted so far are chops.

swamperbob has mentioned that chops were deliberately placed on faces for humorous effect on occasion.

The eye punch in particular has been written about in several places. I have read that punching they eye was done to "kill" any evil spirit that the coin may harbor.

The really randomly placed chops are in some cases fakes. Like the swastika chops that mark some known counterfeit coins. The swastika resembles a genuine chop (Wan) but is reversed like the one used in Nazi Germany. If you see those be VERY suspicious.

My apologizes, swamperbob. I misremembered what you had said about the significance of some of those chops.
