This is the discovery coin. It's been ten years since I've found this. It was the first 1972 S DDO business strike coin that was reported. I had a friend request some pictures to get an idea of what to look for. So...I figured I may as well post it here too. There is a second one known. Anyway...It has never been listed by CONECA or by coppercoins. It is in Ken's book Strike it Rich with Pocket Change by Allen and Potter. Have Fun, Bill Edited by foundinrolls 11/22/2008 6:11 pm

Hi Chuck, I am a total "chicken (fill in the blank)" with respect to mailing this coin around. It was almost lost once:-) We'll figure out something. I am planning on a microscope early next year. I know you like shooting your own stuff but I should be able to get shots that are suitable for you without the coin going anywhere:-)
Thanks, Bill

Awesome find! First time I've seen or heard of that one. Thanks for sharing. Did you find this coin with a loupe? Very nice.

Ken Potter knows about it. I don't think CONECA has a listing for it. Found it initially with a 4X handheld magnifier from Wal-mart:-) No need to slab it, I know what it is:-) Also, slabbers only work with certain reference works when slabbing die varieties a slabber might not label it correctly. What's it worth...I say $50,000.00 if someone is trying to complete a one of each collection of 1972 DDOs:-) That my friends is wishful thinking though:-) Realistically though, it's been ten years , only one other has been found. There has to be more out there....and...you can't really price anything unless it has a track record of sales. I think that gets all the questions that were asked so far. Thanks, Bill PS: I will get more color pictures up. the doubling shows more easily in B&W

After I read your post again I realized what you meant,,,,"I say $50,000.00 if someone is trying to complete a one of each collection of 1972 DDOs" with the emphasis on "trying to complete " also as per the microscope Bill check this out. http://www.opticsplanet.net/carson-...er-ma30.html
