Cool looking piece, but I don't believe it's ancient. Looks like a modern decoration.

My guess would be a piece of kit, either for armour or more likely for a horse, made by a historical re-enactor.

I can't take credit. I thought it looked like it had some age and remembered the fascists' fondness for Roman symbolism. Google did the rest.
