Started collecting as a child, and quit for many years. Now, back in the saddle. My interest is broad, but I do like Franklin Mint coins and gold, although gold is a stretch for my budget.
Please do not take this as a negative, but it is a fact that while beautiful, Franklin Mint coins and presentation cases are not something to invest in. The company (there is no mint) makes their money by creating eye candy presentation cases/folders for readily avaialble (and common) coins. The coins themselves are available for a lot less money.
A coin shop owner will tell you one of the hardest things they have to do is tell people who inherit a pile of Franklin Mint items (and items from similar companies) that what they have is not worth near what was paid. Coin collectors don't care about the packaging and the coins are not rare.
Some people might just collect them for what they are - knowing all of the above. But unfortunately too many people are not aware what they are basically paying for is the added eye candy with some fairly common, to the hobby, coins.
