I noticed one of the members on this forum found a nice double die on the 2020P Salt River Bay Quarter.

I had noticed beforehand that the P on the Salt River Quarter I found in roll of BU quarters was rather thick and looked raised. I compared it to an error-free quarter and the difference was noticeable between the two P mintmarks. In addition, some of the letters in "In God We Trust" appeared thicker than a quarter showing no signs at all of double (or Machine Doubling if I am incorrect).

So as I am rather new to coin collecting and especially errors, I would like peoples' opinions on whether it is a possible DDO or simply Machine Doubling. It is not to the naked eye an especially dramatic one, but you can see something different about it. Again, the potential DDO is most noticeable on the P mintmark. You can see less potential die doubling on D, S, N, U and W of "IN GOD WE TRUST".

Appreciate any input - especially as I usually do not go out of my way to collect errors but hey, once in awhile something comes to you that looks suspiciously like there is one.

PS. I have not mentioned Die Deterioration but I would think that would show differently and the reverse has a good strike. However, I am new and maybe wrong and it is simply Die Deterioration.

Both sides seem to be affected by heavy Die Deterioration. Heavy deterioration, die flow, and slight progressive-indirect-design-transfer is all I see, no doubled die.

Your coin is DDD. And it would not be an error anyways,it would be a variety, just a FYI.

Thanks so much. Very helpful and pardon the delay in responding to you all.

Intrigued by the classification as a variety, not an error. Will do some online research why .

Decided to keep it and encapsulate it as the DDD while is not dramatic to the naked eye although visible, is rather cool to me. And who knows, maybe there will be a buyer willing to pay a very modest premium in a decade or two.
