Hi Guys,

Absolute novice here to coin collection but have kept what I've found over the years and have been routing through for old time sake.

I have come across what appears to be a flowing hair silver dollar the problem is there is a lot of damage to the bottom of the coin meaning I cant see the full date to confirm its 1975 (just the 5 at the end)

Does anyone know if there are any duplicates of the coin/ fakes etc as I cant find anything on google except the one from 1975

TIA for any help and apologies if this wasnt posted correctly (new to forums)

:) Tom

Ok good job--thx for posting those pics. Here is a link to what a real 1795 flowing hair dollar looks like:

I would dare say that there probably more duplicates/fakes than real ones at this point. Here is the reverse of one from PCGS photograde so you can compare. 13.48 grams, 32.5 mm diameter, "FIFTY CENTS OR HALF A DOLLAR" on edge.
I am far from an expert on these, but yours doesn't look like any of the varieties in my book. Note the dentils, where the wing ends compared to the lettering, platform where the eagle stands, etc.

Looks extremely similar to a coin already identified by the community as a counterfeit several years ago. Probably counterfeit by the same illegal mint.
