Dug this coin during an archaeological metallic survey, and owner is at lose for how to conserve and then properly authenticate and store the coin. Also found a Fugio in similar condition.

I think it is from New Haven mint and the 1785 Left facing bust Connecticut.

Not sure dug coins in this condition would be enough surface to send to any grading company.

Any thoughts on how to but deal with this are welcome.

Only have the one picture.

Huh, I'd run it through the washer in a tied sock. You can come up with better.

I'd guess $50 value and not worth slabbing. The Fugio is probably worth $100-200.

It is still kinda tingly to think that these can still be dug up.

Thanks all for the comments. Not really interested in grade / value, just want to have it protected and in a form that can be presented to the public in the museum. And maybe they could tell more about it than I can.

I know how I would conserve it as a common copper object, but the private museum might not want me to do it personally and can't afford a huge amount to send to archaeology conservation service.

So was thinking maybe NGC or something.
