Hi everyone I'm new to the site. neede some input here. was roll searching and came upon this beauty. havnt seen nor heard anything like it.

It's a contact mark. Whatever hit the coin sheared the 1 and moved it to the current location. You can also see damage on the 9, most likely done at the same time. PSD.

i see what your talking about you can see where the one should have been. but wouldnt it be loose or something? as far as I can tell its really stuck down as if it was punched that way. how does something like this likely happen? and thankyou in advance for the swift replies. you guys are awesome

with the members above, this is PSD. A well placed hit will move the metal over and even sometimes remove it entirely. No added value here. to CCF though!

Moved metal caused by a hit. Copper is a relatively soft metal, and raised detail (in copper) can be 'pushed' rather easily.

Agree. Given the way a coin is struck, this deformation could not have occurred at the mint.

Unless it happened post strike, in which case you can't prove if it happened before it left the mint or after it left. This is why Post strike damage coins have no value.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. I had been scratching my head trying to figure out how a die could have done that. Still cool looking. Searching through my pennies last night did find some really nice ddodm that I am going to post later tonight as soon as I'm done fishing!! Good salmon. Thanks again!!
