I didn't think I could even get a pic of this thing due to glare
from the glass, or coin itself... But it turned out okay.
Good enough that you get the idea.

When the Vietnam coin first came out, I ordered it from the mint.
When it came in, I mounted it in a shadow box. If I remember right,
I used velcro stuck to the back of the boxes. I bought the coin for
my Dad, and this just seemed like a nice way to present it. He
wasn't a coin collector at all. This was more like a gift like you
would give a military man a plaque or something. He hung it on his
bedroom wall with his many other military presentations.

Anyway, he recently passed, and I have his coin now. I thought
I might as well share what you can do with any relevant commem to
present as a gift. The shadow box seems to be oak, and is lined with
velvet/velour (don't know the difference). Sorry the glass is a bit
smeared/fuzzy. I didn't have any glass cleaner.

I like that. I got my Dad (2 tours) the three coin proof set a while back. They made a lot more of those though.

Again...very cool. Sorry about your Dad.

My Dad talked with his brother who is slightly older than him. He told him that he's giving away the things that he wants to give away to the people he wants to have them so there's no bickering when he passes away. Now my Dad thinks he has to give away all his stuff to us kids, but there's nothing wrong with him. Also he says he doesn't want anything for Christmas 'cause he's trying to get rid of stuff, not get more. I think I'll just get him a bunch of random stuff he won't use just to tick him off. A ShamWow comes to mind!.

That's a very neat idea and as mentioned before, sorry about your father. All veterans should be remembered for the sacrifice they gave
