I've had this cent for a few years and kept it because of the deeply pinched mintmark. This 1987 D LMC is a curiosity to me not because of the deeply punched mintmark but because of the word LIBERTY. It almost appears doubled but in the opposite direction than the ones attributed. I can see it most on the BERTY. The bottom right horizontal of the letter T looks notched and the upper right arm of the letter Y looks notched as well. The B looks odd shaped as well as the letter R. May just be from DDD. Thoughts?

I know the Ridge Ring shows the DDD. As well as the split plating. My curiosity lies in the shapes of the devises.

Jim, There is a lot going on there, but if I just focus on the outline of the lettering and not all the texture I'm not seeing any enlargement. Even the arms of the T are an optical illusion as the right arm looks thicker but I took a ruler to them and they are the same. It's an eye-buster, but not thinking DDO.

Thanks TB! It is a lot to look at and I admitted it was probably DDD. It still is a curiosity to me and will keep it in a tube with all the other deeply punched mintmark cents.
