Hi all, I got offered the below note at a very very good price. I was wondering what you would give as a grade and what would be a fair price. These are the sellers pictures. There are no pinholes or tears.

I'm unable to grade it, but would value it at $50-100. Looks like a nice circulated dirty bill. Of course value is subjective to all.

It's an Fr.258. Personally and respectfully, when it comes to large size notes, I usually only have one of each type. I don't buy an inexpensive example and then later shop for a nicer example. With that being said, I would hang on to my money and save up a little longer, and shop for a nicer example. The price difference between Fine and Extra-Fine isn't a lot.

Steve, This note is beyond my budget, so its something I would normally not get.. BUT I was offered the note at a good price and was wondering if there is an option to flip it. So I'm seeing 1) what do you think the grade it and 2) what do you think is a fair ebay price. Looking at ebay sold I have both numbers in my mind, just want to see how close I am.

If there is enough value, I would even consider sending it off to Poli. This is me trying to figure out the options.

I believe we are looking at a sub-$300 note. Grading from flat photos is tough. It looks like a Fine note with hard folds and stains. Grading and/or restoration services would eat into any potential profits.

I'm thinking if I get it conserved I would probably keep it.
Thank you Steve for your opinion! I appreciate it. I'm going to check out the note on Thursday and I reached out to poli. This may make sense to buy it and conserve it and just keep it. The stains are what are bothering most.

My 2 cents.. You're gonna pay just as much as the note is worth (possibly more) to conserve/restore. These are common notes and personally I would not spend the money for such an endeavor. For the cost of the note and the money you're looking at to restore, you might as well do as Steve says and buy one in higher grade.

I'd grade it VG-10 but don't find it particularly appealing, to be honest. I'd say $150 would be a "good" price

Thanks all for the advice. I don't find it appealing either, that's why I'm asking. I'm looking at ebay and I believe I can sell it for $225, which would make me a nice profit. This note was never on my list as it's above my buying price. I'll check it out in person on Thursday and decide then.

Pre-COVID I would have said $140-ish, but I think it would get around $175 on an ebay auction today. The notes right selling right now at $150 seem worse than this, and the notes that hit $200 have more eye appeal IMHO. Unfold those corners if you get it. Pet peeve of mine...can't stand seeing banknotes in holders with the corners folded.
